ATTICA, Ohio - With rain, mixed with sleet and snow forecast over the next couple of days and temperatures only expected to reach the upper 30s and dip to the lower 20s at night, Attica Raceway Park officials have postponed the season opener until Friday, April 1.
"We had the track ready to go, but with the forecast the way it is, we decided to wait another week and hope for dryer, warmer conditions," said Attica Promoter John Bores.
"Ohio's Finest Racing" speed plant will open the 2011 season on Friday, April 1 on Construction Equipment/Northern Ohio Truck Center night featuring the O'Reilly Auto Parts 410 Sprints; Fremont Fence 305 Sprints; and Fultz Fabrications and Speed Shop UMP Late Models. There is a rain date of Saturday, April 2. Gates will open at 5 p.m. Friday, April 1, with racing underway at 7:45 p.m. If Saturday's rain date has to be used as open night, gates will open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
